Lalelani Kahle! – Listening Comprehensions


This book is aimed at primary school learners. It contains simple 5 to 6 line passages with True-or-False or multiple choice questions. Passages are read twice by a mother tongue speaker and then the learners are given typed questions. All questions have marks allocated, so these can be used as tests.

When Palesa’s dad announces that they are moving to Durban for his new job she is devastated. She feels angry, nervous and sad all at the same time. How is she ever going to make friends in a place full of new people? She had heard that everyone in Durban was unfriendly to new comers. She feels lonely and like an outsider (inkom’ edla yodwa) until she
is invited to try surfing…
Eventually she learns that it’s ok to be different, you are never going to be accepted by everyone and most importantly being yourself is all you need to do!
